Six Saturday sessions of hands-on robotics, running for the rest of the term. Students work in small teams with real robots, and every session pairs a building challenge with a coding one — nobody touches a screen until they’ve worked the idea out with their own hands first.
Younger students plan robot routes on paper maps, design a snow plough that actually pushes, and teach a robot to sense a wall and decide what to do about it.
Older students work with VEX AIM, going from telling a robot exactly what to do to teaching it to decide for itself — finding cargo with its camera, sorting it by colour, and clearing a field on its own. They’ll also train their own AI model and find out why it gets confused.
Both groups come together for our design sprint challenges, where every team builds a brush bot from scratch — a tiny vibrating robot that skitters across the table — then redesigns it to go faster, straighter, or further than anyone else’s.
Running side by side in the same room, so siblings at different levels can come to the same session.
Saturdays, 10:30am – 12:00pm · Teams of three · No experience needed · Bring your own device · Ages: R - Y6
Open to students from any school — you don’t need to be enrolled anywhere in particular to come along.
